Established in 1952 with the founding of the first Saraswati Shishu Mandir in Gorakhpur, Vidya Bharati emerged from a vision to educate India’s youth rooted in Bharatiya values and culture. Inspired by the ideology of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), it quickly expanded across Uttar Pradesh and the nation. In 1977, Vidya Bharati Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Sansthan was officially formed with national headquarters in Lucknow and Delhi.

Today, Vidya Bharati operates over 12,000 formal schools, educating more than 32 lakh students with the help of 1.5 lakh dedicated teachers. It also runs 1,200+ informal education centres and reaches remote tribal areas, ensuring inclusive access to quality learning.

The organization emphasizes holistic education—combining academic excellence with moral, physical, emotional, and spiritual development. Its curriculum seamlessly integrates modern knowledge with traditional Indian wisdom. By fostering patriotism, discipline, and ethical conduct, Vidya Bharati shapes well-rounded, socially responsible citizens. With 63 colleges, 45 residential institutions, and 240 semi-residential schools, Vidya Bharati contributes meaningfully to higher education as well. Its mission remains steadfast: to nurture generations of students who uphold Bharatiya civilization while confidently engaging with a modern world.
