Doctor ji believed that national work required a good number of quality human beings. Sangh shakhas became incubators for vyakti-niman. He used to say ’Sangh means shakha and shakha means programmes for personality development.’

Journey from vyakti-parivartan to samajik-parivartan to vyavastha-parivartan

Inspired by the deep sense of patriotism and committed to RSS’s objective to take the nation to Param Vaibhavam’, RSS workers are seen working in various walks of national life. They all are motivated by the same ideology, which creates emotional bond and brotherhood among themselves. They walk the same path and have a high level of coordination among themselves to achieve their objective. 'Sangh Parivar’ is a commonly used word in the media to describe RSS inspired organizations. In reality, no organization like `Sangh Parivar’ exists. However, one can describe it as Sangh Shrushti’ as activists of several organizations are moulded in the same fashion, their style of functioning is similar, they have the same work culture and they work in their respective fields with the same ideology. This results in a sense of belongingness and affinity like a family among the workers, working in their respective fields. All the RSS inspired organizations work in their respective fields with full autonomy. They have their separate constitution, office, office bearers, style of functioning and work for the interests of their respective fields. However, the fundamental ideological foundation remains the same. Such is the freedom enjoyed by these organizations that many times they appear contradictory but ideological foundations do not deviate them from the ultimate objective.

The foundation and growth of such organizations is an indicator of ever-growing RSS. Millions of people directly or indirectly established their ideological commitment to patriotic thoughts. Rashtra Sevika Samiti was formed in 1936 by Vandniya Laxmibai Kelkar, which was an exclusive organization for women. RSS has always attempted to generate energy and channelize it through workers. The energy, in the form of workers, is distributed in the society. Following this faith, the need for organizations, working in various spheres of national life was first thought by second Sarsanghchalak Shri Guruji. Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay and Atal Behari Vajpayee formed Rashtradharma Prakashan in July 1947 against the backdrop of partition or independence.

Two years after independence, Shri Guruji suggested to form an exclusive organization for students. Accordingly, Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) was formed on July 9, 1949. ABVP is currently the biggest students’ organization in the country in terms of members and geographical expansion. Hindustan Samachar was formed in 1949 for the media sector. In the fifties, RSS inspired workers formed a series of organizations in various walks of national life. They mainly include Bhartiya Jan Sangh (earlier incarnation of BJP), Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram (1952) and Vidyabharati (1952). Politics, students, labour, education and tribals were the sectors chosen by RSS for its expansion. RSS gradually expanded its circumference with the formation of a number of organizations, giving a big stimulus to patriotic ideology in national life.

These organizations mainly include Bharat Vikas Parishad, Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Akhil Bhartiya Sahitya Parishad, Bhartiya Shikshan Mandal, Deendayal Shodh Sansthan, Akhil Bhartiya Grahak Panchayat, Bhartiya Kisan Sangh, Sahkar Bharati, Sanskar Bharati, Pradnyaprawah, Akhil Bhartiya Adhikvakta Parishad, Vishwa Vibhag, Samajik Samrasta Manch, Swadesh Jagran Manch, Sanskrti Bharati, Arogya Bharati, Sewa Bharati, Rashtriya Sewa Bharati, National Medicos Organization, Bharatiya Itihas Sanklan Samiti, Akhil Bhartiya Shaikshik Mahasangh, Purva Sainik Sewa Parishad, Hindu Jagran Manch, Seema Jagran, Vidnyan Bharati, Saksham, Krida Bharati and Laghu Udyog Bharati. Currently around 32 such organizations are working in various fields to take the nation to Param Vaibhav.

A quick look at the list suggests that not a single sector is free from RSS inspired education. RSS inspired organizations are working in health to education and from agriculture to industries. Thirty two organizations work in coordination with each other as they are bound by a common ideology and commitment to the society. Their unwavering efforts have resulted in a new awakening in the country, which is based `SWA”.
