Sahakar Bharati, founded on January 11, 1978 in Pune, is a pan-India organization committed to revitalizing India’s cooperative movement across rural and urban areas. Rooted in the ideals of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and inspired by senior RSS Pracharak Laxmanrao Inamdar ("Vakil Sahab"), it emerged when the flaws of both capitalism and socialism became evident—systems that either exploit through capital or the state.
In contrast, Sahakar Bharati promotes cooperation based on mutual trust, emotional bonding, and community self-reliance.
It advocates a decentralized, labor-intensive model that discourages monopolies, fosters job creation, and strengthens self-sustaining institutions. Through training camps, seminars, and advisory support—including technology—Sahakar Bharati empowers cooperative societies while championing their autonomy and insulation from political interference.
Actively engaging with state and central governments, the organization pushes for legal reforms to protect cooperative values. It also conducts research and addresses grassroots issues to make cooperation a people-driven movement.
Above all, Sahakar Bharati believes in the transformative power of selfless, committed volunteers who can harness cooperative principles to uplift economically and socially weaker sections of society, offering an indigenous alternative to exploitative economic ideologies.
