Prajna Pravah is the intellectual wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), committed to reviving and promoting Bharat’s rich civilizational heritage. Conceived in the early 1980s under the guidance of Balasaheb Deoras, K S Sudarshan, and Dattopant Thengadi, it was formally launched in 1987 in Kolkata to coordinate existing cultural efforts and challenge Eurocentric narratives undermining Indian knowledge systems.
Today, under the guidance of national convener J Nandkumar, Prajna Pravah builds a pan-India network of scholars, academicians, and institutions rooted in Bharatiya knowledge traditions. Its mission is to infuse academia and public discourse with Indic perspectives—covering Vedic philosophy, classical arts, dharmic traditions, Sanskrit, and indigenous sciences.
Key initiatives include Lokmanthan, a national conclave of intellectuals and artists, and Jnan Sangam, which fosters innovation by connecting ancient wisdom with modern science.
Regular faculty development programs, student camps, and conferences empower educators and researchers to decolonize thought and deepen Indian epistemology.
With active publications, digital content, and outreach platforms, Prajna Pravah is a vital force in Bharat’s cultural awakening—bridging tradition and modernity to create a self-assured, civilizationally rooted society ready for the global stage.
