The difference between Hinduism and Hindutva or Hinduness is fundamental. Any ISM is a closed book, which is final. As against this, Hindutva is dynamic and vibrant. Hindutva is an open book, a relentless pursuit of truth. Hindutva is never static but a dynamic process, which is eternal and has withstood for thousands of years thanks to its exclusive fundamental characteristic.

Hindutva is not a narrow concept but much more wide, deep, inclusive and accommodative and based on experience. It has sustained because of these basic features. Hindutva has space for theism and atheism while it also accommodates spiritualism and materialism. Hindutva has space for all kinds of ideas and thoughts, which needs tolerance, democratic and a great amount of courage. In other words, Hindutva is diversity in unity. It is not unity in diversity. Hindutva is the manifestation of truth in different forms. Hindutva does not have full stop as it is a process in continuance.

Hindutva is neither rituals, lifestyle nor any specific traditions. Dharma is a much wider concept than what is called religion in English. Dharma has no alternate word in English. Dharma is Dharma, which comprises eternal norms for holding society.

The term `secular’ has foreign origin. This is not an alien term for India as it has been a tradition of this nation for generations. The term secular was not in the original constitution but was included later as the constituent assembly believed that the Indian psyche is necessarily tolerant and accommodative. Hindutva is a reflection of Bharatiya value system, that is why it identifies with national identity. Hinduness nurtures sentiment of national integration.
